This year's "Romanian Electronic Festival 2008" has been canceled - this announcement was made by the manager of "DJs Techno Conference" organization, Remus Miron. The event will probably take place in 2009, with the same structure of a "72 hours marathon," a combination between music, extrem sports, graphic arts and pure nature.
The main attractions of 2007's edition were Cristian Varela vs Bando (Spain), Luke Slater (UK), Dave Angel (UK), Octave One (USA), Danilo Vigorito (Italy), Trevor Rockcliffe (UK), Space Djz (UK), Paul Mac (UK), Lucca (Cz), Dj Zinc (UK), Spor (UK), The Rogue Element (UK), Paul Langley (UK), ...
R.E.F. took place in Tarlungeni Auto Park (10 km from the Center of Brasov), at the end of August. The organisers want to offer to young people a festival that can compete with the international standards, focusing on a good line-up, the main ingredient for the festival to become a success.
The current situation in Romania's music scene has made it very difficult for the organizers to confirm the presence of artists / djs / producers that bond to the concept of the event.
Remus Miron: "From the beginning I expected that this event will be one of the most important festivals in Romania. This year after I finished the project, bookings that I have had to cancel even two times, I decided to cancel the festival this year because there were big risks of compromising the international standards that we are aiming for."
our apologises for this inconvenience, Miron Remus & Co.

From August 31st till September 2nd, the first edition of Romanian Electronic Festival will take place near the city of Brasov in ROMANIA. With artists like Cristian Varela, Luke Slater, Dave Angel, Octave One, Danilo Vigorito, Trevor Rockcliffe, Space DJz, Paul Mac, Lucca, Bando, Paul Langley, Zinc, Rogue Element, Spor and a lot of Romanian artists, the best that it has, this festival is created for the Romanian youngsters that never had the opportunity to know what techno is all about.
The event will take place at a very cool location, Zizin Valley near the city of Brasov. The place where the mountains will echo the best beats and the huge crowd’s voices for 72 hours.
In fact, the organization chose the location because of the complete isolation from any kind of civilization and where nothing reminds of the every day life. No traffic, no cheap common tourism that you would find at an agency across the street.
They organization meant to break the patterns in Romania and give the Romanian electronic music lovers the chance to experience an alternative to what the regional party brands call ‘huge parties’. But this is not just a chance for the Romanian public to experience a whole different world. Most of the djs from abroad are on their first trip to Romania and as they will get to know what Romania is all about, so will the visitors to this festival. This is why they called it ‘ROMANIAN Electronic Festival’ - something new and BIG for Romania and something awesome for the foreigners. Unlike most of the festivals we see every summer, the Romanian Electronic Festival has other goals than ‘the usual suspects’.
The whole weekend will be a hell of a party for every single soul that walks around the camp and the visitors living in the area will definitely stand out and hopefully set a ‘trend’ for their fellow Romanians Although they live in the very heart of Romania, the local techno community is the one to ‘blame’ for the fact that this event will take place. As they started to party in the early '90s, the people from Brasov highlighted a group of djs and party developers that, through their actions, managed to change the whole Romanian scene. As if they wanted everyone to get ready for this festival. So here it is: Romanian Electronic Festival, an entire weekend of first-class music in a landscape you can easily call ‘heavenly’ and garnished with lots of interactive fun like bungee jumping or graffiti.
The staff that made all this possible guaranteed the visitors that, after all of this will be finished, everyone will walk through the gates smiling. 40.000 watts will make sure that the sound will be more than enough for those wild creatures to party. Things like a place to rest or a good meal aren't going to cause any problems. In fact, they can barely wait for the feedback, so that the first edition of Romanian Electronic Festival will become a respected brand, at least in it's country, if not abroad.
A street parade, 40.000 watts of crystal clear bass, a well coordinated light show and good VJ work will surely start your weekend in the best of ways. Friday’s broken beats and Saturday and Sunday’s deeper trip into techno, put together with an amazing landscape, urban art, bungee jumping and lots of other ingredients will surely turn into the most tasty electronic music pie Transylvania has ever seen.
Whether you’re a local or from abroad you do not want to miss this!
